I don't have enough technical knowledge to have a not biased opinion or derived by looking at actually what Bip110 is or the changed made in Core 30 were..

.. but there's a thing I did notice in the last year or so and that is very concerning IMO.

I do see very big, single, point of failure for Bitcoin, where decentralisation failed and is failing.. Core. Already from the name of it, it directly sounds like an oxymoron, a decentralised protocol can't have a core itself by definition. It kinda sounds like Eth foundation but without the founding for advertisement or coin promotions.

One time, an "important" Nostr dev and probably bitcoin core contributor in the past (?) or recent (not sure when), have the dare to say - Bitcoin Core is bitcoin - his quote.

When there's an entity that centralised devs, ideas, behaviours, culture, etc etc.. is much easy to be influenced/attacked/exploited from external actors, that can be States, big Corporation that fear bitcoin as money and all that comes from that.

When there's a board, a group, the bigger risk is always the one to be targeted because succeeding in that means you can control/divert what the idea or ethos of it.. you want a recent example? I believe #opensats is a great thing, in the sense of a way to give DEVs grant to work on something.. but of course eho decided to give what to who or to not give to others?! When malicious attackers like NVK sitting on the board ostracized company and projects like #seedsigner because they were a concurrent in business?

.. well I do see the possibility someone captured already Bitcoin Core.. and this scarces me. You can trust anyone in the space and the recent Coldcard episode showed that.. all of fucking you almost has to say about Code and those fuckers went on for 5+ years with a shitty code advertised as THE FUCKING BEST?! and disregarding the behaviour of those producing it after using the code of precedent reliable companies that open sourced them fully like Trezor (often mocked as non secure in those years).

What is concerning to me, is people not recognising the catastrophic effects of something like Core being already captured or being in the future.. by no matter what side. Because this will make bitcoin a political thing.. I don't want to re-capture Core, I would like it to divert from being something like eth foundation, and a single point of failure for what was meant to be a peer to peer electronic cash system that doesn't need States, or third parties.

Decentralization is key to individual sovereignty, single points of failure undermine it.

He was a curious choice for the board of opensats considering he turned his code to close source after first forking trezor who made open source... Hardly the ethos you would want.... This failed fork only proves you cant change bitcoin which is not a bad thing.

i agree, try and go to a bitdev meet up it feels a little of an inner circle

Well put, and I agree. The sentiment of this post was the exact reason I switched to Knots support early in the debate. At this point now I’ve lost the plot because I really don’t know the technicals well enough. It’s always in hindsight when things become clear, I can’t believe how easily I...
