It might be a relay thing. Check the relay section after tapping your icon in the top left corner. Does it look like you are connected to the relays in your relay list?

Ya I have a similar issue. I can follow people with purple checkmarks (whatever that means) on #damus but anyone without it won’t stick. I tried also on #primal, but my follows don’t seem to stick much better there either. I’m using like a dozen relays but that doesn’t seem to help either. ...
