I don't know any context about the situation beyond the surface level event, so take this with a grain of salt, but... from what I read somewhere, many people basically were being stubborn and going with it because it was a Bitcoin-only wallet.

Like I said, I have no idea if that's true but it really does track with the Bitcoin maxis and their cultish "no second best" mentality.
