I could never understand why Trump would say "I could end that war in 24 hours" or "were I in charge you'd have peace in a day"

I didn't understand why he'd say this since, to me, it seemed so obviously false. Everyone wants all of these conflict over. If it could be ended so easily it would happen? Why did he say that? Why did it work on some people?

But I think I get it now.

If you think of US military might was overwhelming. If you think of US nuclear weapons as a kind of automatic win. And if you see wars as only contests of might and firepower why couldn't the US just say "do what we want or we'll nuke you?" and get everything that the US might want? I think that's ...
