@WhiteExodite Yes, they give that feeling, though movie posters also went limp a while ago (some of the 1930 Universal horror posters are good enough they should have sold prints of them, but killing the past became too important I assume.)
The AvP one strikes me due to how 'rough' it is in style, yet still evocative and restrained. As in, back then if you saw the poster first you might think katana girl is a dude until you take a look at the cabinet screen when it arrives to your nearby arcade; yet it doesn't do it to 'challenge', it does it because it is right for the entire work.

But thinking about it, swordswinging vidya male characters back then looked like, well, Samurai Showdown dudes, so her biceps not rivaling the predators physique is a good indicator of her design.
