When I'm bored I go to iNaturalist and search for "ants" sorted by date. Here were the two newest ants and you could not ask for a better pair of examples of ant morphological diversity.

Cataulacus granulatus, (a turtle ant) a close relative of Cataulacus latissimus, one of the flattest and most squat ants on earth.

Leptomyrmex are called "spider ants" because they fold their gasters over their mesoma so they look like arachnids. Some even mimic an arachnid-like walk. This is probably done to evade predators. https://cdn.masto.host/sauropodswin/media_attachments/files/116/685/607/597/794/975/original/5efe1ff...
