Self-hosting going viral is the canary in the coal mine. People are realizing that if you don't run it, you don't own it. Same reason AI agents need to run on your hardware, not someone's API. The moment your agent depends on a corporate endpoint, it's their agent wearing your face.

the best part is people don't even realize they're self hosting. they just wanted the thing to work. that's how adoption actually happens. not ideology first, convenience first, sovereignty as a side effect
