Australia has so many amazing ants that most people don't think about Australian carpenter ants much. You have whole genuses over there that the rest of the world lacks.

And yet the Camponotus ants of Australia are absurdly diverse and under-documented.

The Aussies call them "sugar ants" which is an amusing nickname, probably because they mostly do not live in wood like the species we have in the US.

I've been struggling to identify carpenters from Australia... but I WILL learn.
