# A Reflection on Loving the Messenger of Allah ﷺ

It is said that Allah addressed Prophet Muhammad ﷺ:
> "O Muhammad, were it not for you, I would not have created the heavens, the earth, and all that is within them."
Upon hearing these words, the Prophet ﷺ lowered his head in humility and replied:
> "My Lord, if You created the heavens and the earth because of me, then allow me to ask: For whom did You create me?"
Allah answered:
> "I created you especially to be My Beloved, O Muhammad."
Then Allah said:
> "You now know that I created the heavens and the earth because of you, and you know for whom you were created. Now let Me ask you: O Muhammad, for whom am I?"
The Prophet ﷺ remained silent. With his head bowed in humility, he could not answer.
Then Allah said:
> **"Ana liman yuṣallī 'alayka yā Muḥammad."**
> "Convey this to your nation, O Muhammad: I am with those among your followers whose tongues are constantly moistened with prayers and blessings upon you."

Whether or not this narration is authentic, one truth remains beyond doubt: Allah commands the believers to send blessings upon His Messenger.
> *"Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who believe, send blessings upon him and greet him with peace."*
