Why are hammers so smart, yet so dumb?

They can drive a nail through the most insanely complicated piece of engineering, but then flop on some super basic task like realizing that if I used this hammer yesterday, that perhaps it’s already sitting in my toolbox instead of having to go look for a new one again.

Sometimes it feels like the hammer can do the most incredible things, but then somehow manages to hit me in the finger instead of the nail.

What is wrong with them 🤣
