Owl City has been an interesting recurring character for a long time. He fundamentally makes kinkade music, but in many instances there's something unintentionally captivating about watching a sheltered autistic christian man trying and failing to emulate the sterile neurotypical inhumanity of late 00s commercials, attempts at sincerely becoming what the squeakiest cleanest presenting factions want giving birth to an entirely different surreal alternate reality from the one he professes to create. And despite this, ever since reading that his favorite albums list has shit like goddamn Godspeed You!Black Emperor in it, I'm convinced he has the same naive, underdeveloped, but deep rooted sense of beauty in him that I did when I was 10, physically and mentally disconnected from all American culture, and trying to force myself to be a christian boy.
