This is a good article, but it fails to address that any philosophical questions rests on top of the survival/existence of the chain itself.

It's missing the elephant in the room.

Small blocks hope to create security through high fees and low throughput.

Big blocks hope to create security through low fees and high throughput.

Both are untested hypothesis as block rewards are still the dominating force.


After closer examination I am sure that both assumptions will not withstand the test of time.

Bitcoin will become less secure over time, which means capture will be easier. This is especially interesting for those that still hold the believes that Bitcoin had not yet been captured.

For those that are waiting for the captureres to announce their victory there is no hope anyways.

That is not how power in the background operates. Power would always call it (our) democracy or Nakamoto consensus for propaganda reasons.

Please excuse any stupid questions here… Security scales with BTC price (priced in fiat obviously)? If the price 10x’s while subsidy halves twice, has the security budget actually fallen? And what does captured bitcoin look like?
