Net positive. Why? Because the information moving faster compare to non-social media platform. The problem is, there are way to much noise in social media, but you can easily choose which news you want to get.

Information moves faster - but social media isn't the cause of that.. the speed of the Internet is.. Social media - when not federated - is a net negative - because one source controls what you see, hear and are exposed to.
