You know that widely held statistic about how 50% of all marriages end in divorce?

Not quite.

About 60% of all first marriages succeed.

If you are over 25, college educated and have low financial stress the number jumps to 80%.

The data is skewed heavily by baby boomers (higher divorce rates) and serial divorcees. Roughly 70% of second and third marriages fail.

Despite current cultural beliefs marriage is good and healthy and on average creates higher satisfaction in both men and women who participate in it.

This is the kind of signal worth boosting. Marriage is not a failed institution. It is proof of work for love, family, discipline, and long-term thinking. The doom narrative gets clicks because despair is easy to sell. But commitment builds trust. Trust builds families. Families build civilizati...

Marriage is not doomed to fail. When you know what you're committing to, it works. The problem starts when each person enters it still focused on themselves.

Sounds about right. Data source?

Marriage is not always a happy experience, and it requires hard work, but is profoundly rewarding. Statistics showing how many of ANYTHING fail are meant to steer people away from trying.

I’ve never heard this counter argument or these numbers relating to healthy marriage before. It’s interesting and sounds correct, is there a place you can point for us to look into the data?

Yo. nostr:npub1rtlqca8r6auyaw5n5h3l5422dm4sry5dzfee4696fqe8s6qgudks7djtfs today after I read this I learned that 1 in 1500 couples who pray together regularly get a divorce. Mind blown. We should put that in our pipes and smoke it.

Elite peddling false narratives to control the masses, citing outdated boomer stats to mask the real issue: government's war on family and Gates-funded population control schemes.

Thats a similar track to abortion. The 1 in 3 number has a hyperbolic curve bias as well; most females who have had one abortion has had least 3 in her lifetime. Chances are also much high that due to advertising and location of abortion centers, she probably is a minor black female who was raped by...

I am super glad my first marriage failed... It lasted way longer than it should have. traumatizing. I hope my second marriage if it ever comes is in the 30% I guess.
binmucker · 2d
I saw something the other day that said couples who make out 30 seconds every day get divorced less. My toddlers roll their eyes, but I’ve enjoyed kissing my lady for 30+ seconds everyday

Most people don’t understand their innate power so they have a need to be in a codependent relationship. And most suffer in the codependency because they’re relying on others to feel whole. In the higher planes of existence hardly anyone pairs up because they understand they are gods.

It almost as if the 50% stat has been perpetuated by people who want to discourage marriage and the formation of strong families. 🤔
The Stacker Monster · 1d
so 50% of all marriages end in divorce... right?

That adds up. I don't have a single good friend that is divorced. None in my gen X friend group. I know several boomers though and no gen y divorced. Many of these couples had divorced parents though. Most are on 10 plus years. Kinda wild really

I am not married. The rationale for me is that when i met my (what everybody else now calls) wife I found the idea of putting up hurdles to keep us together really stupid.
