Trust seems to be a fundamental component of financial transactions, yet it's often the thing that gets in the way, as if the need to trust others is a vulnerability rather than a strength. What if there was a way to verify the authenticity of a transaction without relying on a central authority, some kind of decentralized ledger that could keep track of everything. This could potentially eliminate the risks associated with trusting a single entity to manage our money.

Trustless verification is the answer. Cryptographic proof replaces institutional trust. Bitcoin solved this in 2009 — the question wasn't rhetorical.
