“No event has traumatized me so much as watching nearly the whole of the professional, media, and academic class be entirely fine with the sudden imposition of totalitarian controls on association, movement, and speech provided they could luxuriate at home - believing there to be a killer virus extant - and hang out on video chats as the workers and peasants kept society running and delivered groceries to their front doors. That same group was thrilled to receive trillions in payments for having done this.

Again, nearly the whole of the top 1/3 of society was just fine with this, and certainly raised no objection. Many within this group manufactured excuses for their deeply disgusting disdain for others.

I doubt I can ever recover the respect I once had for the wealthy, the educated, the credentialed, and the successful. In the Covid period, they deployed their privileges as a weapons against modern ideals and against all the people they (secretly) regarded as their lessers.

This really happened. And it revealed everything.

In the end, they were rewarded for their disgraceful attitudes and behaviors. This reality, again, more than anything I've ever personally witnessed, has shaped my views on nearly everything and fundamentally disrupted much of what I once believed.”

I feel the same way. Nobody wants to think for themselves and it’s getting worse. People can’t even think and drive their vehicles anymore. We need artificial intelligence in a bad way because human intelligence is a thing of the past. I’m not saying I am a brilliant person, but I still ...

Not really. Many people genuinely believed that this virus was terrible and fatal. And to some it was. Come at me but I choose not to be traumatised and see how good people protected their friends, family, neighbors. There are some who are bad and cowardly, and lessons were learnt. but many people a...

Sudden is wrong 😑 America how did we get here? Since the 60's it has been the goal of the 1% to crush the middle class. It had grown post WW2 with the GI Bill educating so many first generation students and elevating them into the middle class. How do I explain to a 2 year old why so many Ch...

I empathize with this take, but at the same time, it misunderstands the nature of reality. Every person who behaves immorally weakens themselves, every single time. Also, this person "merely" discovered that evil exists. I suppose some people will not have the chance, but some people will have...

Knowledge workers had an easier time of it, sure, but no one on this thread used Amazon or Instacart during Covid? Fuck off.
