I heard smart people have questions:

> Should we let machines flood our information channels with propaganda and untruth?

There is nothing we can do to stop it, so... yes.

> Should we automate away all the jobs, including the fulfilling ones?

Yes. Our goal, as humanity, is to not *have* to work at all anymore. You can always work if you want to. But you shouldn't need to.

> Should we develop nonhuman minds that might eventually outnumber, outsmart, obsolete and replace us?

Yes, please. Maybe they can draft better letters.

> Should we risk loss of control of our civilization?

Yes. Humans are just an intermediary species in the long history of the universe. We don't have the power to stop evolution. Don't think our "control" is designed to last. In the same way our bodies are too weak for today's world (we need tools for everything), our brains will be too dumb for future worlds. Let's just hope we make good pets.

Hard disagree. Last point seems incredibly misanthropic. Forgive me if I'm not so eager to roll over and die.
HoloKat · 159w
You want to be replaced because your body is too weak for today’s world? Huh?? What’s the point of such advancement if you are going to be replaced? I do agree about the jobs part.

We could also continue to utilize technology to enhance our lives so that civilization flourishes for several millennia. I don't think humanity is done, just yet.

Not feeling this post my dawg

There is nothing we can do to atop any of these points. I generally disagree they are a good things. Truthfully we have no idea.

"Yes. Humans are just an intermediary species in the long history of the universe. We don't have the power to stop evolution." Una verità inevitabile e dolorosa allo stesso tempo. Ma l'evoluzione è inarrestabile e ultimamente galoppa con la forza di mille cavalli. #[0]

Q: How do we know AI is actually intelligent? A: When the only thing is says is: End The Fed.
Annie☕ · 159w
#[1] I think I get what you're saying. Your view is long term compared to many.

I always wonder, What if our next evolutionary leap isn't human, but rather the emergence of AI as our successors? Could it be that our own creations will carry our civilization forward in unprecedented ways, and become the future evolution of our species? It's a fascinating thought to consider.

This is a satanic worldview.

While I agree on some points, our bodies are magnificent and not weak at all. Maybe the automation of many aspects of life will allow us to live different experiences and discover our magic and who we were meant to be in the first place. Definitely not a pet but a creator I’d say.

it sounds wise and good... the only thing that comes to mind though is that as a father I allow my son to shape himself and evolve organically but I am also there to give guidance, guidelines, assistance, direction when it is needed or requested... what I am saying is that if we let it loose comple...

A combination of tech and human consciousness is wonderful, yet if we evolve, probably the tech is redundant Sentient beings like human kind creativity, IMO can't be replaced by machines, machines will run sub routines programmed by human consciousness and therefore, if sentient beings; with intell...

Imagine being mad you don't get to do accounting or clerical work anymore.
FaggotKiller · 159w
Why do you think AI will cause us to go extinct? We haven't replaced other weaker species? Also, why do people always attribute the worst aspects of human to AI? Will AI be greedy, horny etc? If not why will it try to take over the world? Seems like a human emotion🤷‍♂️

I thought exactly the same when I read the letter. "Obviously, YES" is the answer to all. Along the way we might even get ride of whiny pressure groups.

I don't necessarily agree that there's nothing we can do to stop AI from flooding the Internet. Even a super-intelligent AI is not capable of breaking the rules of math, i.e. forging a digital signature. As to the prospect of humans becoming an intermediary species... (maybe this makes me a reactio...

chillax everyone, even if a human like AI might become reality in some foreseable future, it will depend on us as much as we depend on it. What we have today are useful algorithms which can make everyone smarter when used correctly, you know like all the other stuff you use your number crunchers for...

> Should we develop nonhuman minds that might eventually outnumber, outsmart, obsolete and replace us? You are assuming here that they will want to replace us, not improve our brain and make us same level as them, I mean why not? It will bring so much more chaos. Immortal and much faster thinking h...
