Nature hikes 101: Leave your headphones behind. Was hiking a trail today and heard a sickening CRACK directly above and saw an enormous tree limb starting to fall directly down on top of me. Literally dove out of the way and got splinters in my face when the thing crashed down. I probably would not be typing this if I'd been obliviously hiking along w/ my headphones on (which I'll admit I do from time to time).
