i have been consistent on this in the past: through the use of insurance requirements, it will become prohibitively expensive to drive your own car

incredibly fucked up

easier to make freedom expensive than illegal

It bothers me every time I have to register my own car. License plates, registrations, inspections, insurance requirements…I dislike it all.
Globe99 · 10w
What's "fucked up" is 70 years of centrally-planned urban and suburban development patterns that have made the ability to travel around the country by any means other than The Car prohibitive. Cars are bad for the planet, and human life

They 100% want us all in autonomous vehicles with no control
Fractal Howler · 10w
Kind of like they’re trying to take away the personal pc by making memory prohibitively expensive for the average Joe.

I'll just leave this here nostr:naddr1qvzqqqr4gupzptujz495l5qzjfqrzwr0wyenkzhajaq6qah4cuutcfsr5k6e6eclqyvhwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnddakk7um5wgh8q6twdvhszxthwden5te0wfjkccte9eekummjwsh8xmmrd9skctcpzemhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejz7qq4xdg5ysngxex85u3j244x7atwgaghzkn52g46hca8

incredibly normal, actually. Idolaters get what their idols decide they get. There is only one Insurer.
ARVIN · 10w
There will be premiums on freedom. Plan accordingly.
ew0k · 10w
Logically, if the roads are flooding with safer robot cars, then my insurance costs should go down, but no, that’s never how it works out is it
Stirling Forge · 10w
There is nothing unfree about being in a self driving car if: you still own it, choose where it goes, and can take over and drive when you want.

Crowd Insurance is next.

GM was also recently found to be selling vehicle location data. Very messed up.

FSD will not be available to buy anymore, only by subscription
Ricky Zhang · 10w
Until AI/Nostr powered “freedom self driving cars” arrive on scene

Stop crashing. Insurance go down.

Odell when he sets foot in a Tesla with FSD https://file.nostrmedia.com/p/d49a9023a21dba1b3c8306ca369bf3243d8b44b8f0b6d1196607f7b0990fa8df/f662e55d868a616e0f7166dbecca727d0a962e80b2afdf2457c0be1148d21aba.png

Positive note also, if I have a full self driving car when why the fuck would I need a drivers license? Less standardized KYC for 16 year olds in the near future.
The Bitcoin Act · 10w
Same playbook as with guns, private property taxes, or even home schooling regs. Make liberty a luxury good, then act shocked when the poors 'choose' not to exercise it.
UNLICENSED MONEY TRANSMITTER · 10w
the pod will always be the cheapest. it's not a coincidence

This is the way of capitalism

“I heard he drives his own car” “No freaking way. How can he afford the interest?” “I think he was like an early bitcoiner or something.”
Karate_ninja_2000 · 10w
We need privately owned, open source, offline self driving cars 😀 Bitcoin doesn’t fix that.
MNicolas_OK · 10w
They will get the other money from somewhere
theplatinumbear · 10w
Yeah, I have been saying the same that’s why it so important for the 18-wheelers businesses to implement FSD their operation cost will drop dramatically.
El Hodlero · 10w
Fuck that. I'm not doing it. I will drive myself, shifting my own gears until the day I die.
Adam · 10w
There will be a tipping point where enough of the population has adopted autonomous cars all programmed to avoid accidents, and the need for traffic enforcement goes to zero. A potential exists for a golden age to be a driver. That's when you want a lambo.
Neve Farms · 10w
Our car insurance is high because of electric cars in the first place. It costs an arm and a leg to fix those things as opposed to internal combustion engine vehicles
Adam Dunlap ⚡️ · 10w
It’s no f’ed up to charge someone less. Note they do not say they will be charging people more. It’s a discount Your view is analogous to calling to F*cked up for a grocery store to have a sale
Notions · 10w
Not having to drive opens up other freedoms like shitposting. 🤷🏻‍♂️

When i was living in WI for 4 years I was driving my camaro w/o insurance. Just because i believe insurance is a fiat scam. Americans told me this is not allowed. I told em to GFY.

Freedom of movement is under attack by the ruling class.
Michaelmas · 10w
Carney the central bank parasite in Canada just quietly brought in fines up to $10,000 for minor driving violations for "safety" of course. One ticket and you'll never drive your car again
593UDKM · 10w
Unironically return to tradition and build cities and towns that don’t require us to travel by giant overpriced wheelchairs
Louferlou · 10w
More expensive than to not drive yes, but why would it be more expensive than today?
