nothing about the civil war changed anything for the already extant and ONLY citizenship class of the Free White State Citizen.
the 14th Amendment provided a new and congressionally-OWNED class of citizen for the negro - U.S. citizen. This was expanded to aliens of all sorts over the years, and also obfuscated and confused to such a degree that many State Citizens have wrongfully be assuming they are under the statutory frameworks of Congress but thats only true in DC or its zones and territories...
The Republic was not dissolved. The states did not lose their State status as independent with their own Constitutions etc...
