You're, as you noted above, are very wrong about that! How do you *think* PCIe works *at all* at 2.5 GT/s over a transmission line? It's a noisy RF link. PCIe 5.0 with 32 GT/s: That literally uses FEC extensively as you'd find in a wireless RF link. To cite the PCI-SIG: "We're better off retrying a packet with 10⁻⁶ (or 10⁻⁵) prob.…"!
