the point of nostr is to be self-sovereign. my proposal is to keep an identity key offline and use it to create signing keys. this maintains the independence of nostr while allowing you to disavow a key that gets lost

Inkan *does* allow you to keep an identity key offline. That's precisely what it does. It allows the identity key to create signing keys. Can I see your proposal? I remember looking at it once I think. Those were might thoughts exactly. We don't need an external dependency. We just need signed events validating chained members. I didn't know how to discuss this further really I'd just plain disagree with needing an external "source ...
