i dislike how taboo discussions around money are in leftist activist circles. i see a lot of hand waving. 'money won't be needed in a post capitalist world.' 'money is the root of evil.' 'money is exploitation.' then the conversation ends.

i wish it didn't go like this. money is not inherently evil. it's just a technology. just like language. a technology for transporting value across space and time. that's it. it doesn't have to be exploitative.

the current monetary system is deeply corrupt. imo it's the source of a lot of the world's problems, but the answer isn't to dismiss it. we should strive to build a better one. if the current implementation is broken fork and build your own.

The Left has been psyopped into oblivion and instead of waking up, they’re digging themselves deeper into the morast.

I have a lot to say 🙂. I kinda agree, but calling it a problem of "the left" isn't helpful. Left vs right is losing more and more meaning, and some of the most "left" people I know (woke, trans activist, anti climate change warriors, supporters of public healthcare and public transport...) are a...

Yes this is a very common problem with postmodern ideology. Their heart is in the right place but the mind has not followed (yet)

There is a big lack of integrity by a lot of folks on social media and in every day dealings. This is nothing new. Ones only recourse is not to give away your integrity.

Money's neutrality is obscured by fiat's inherent flaws, such as the 1971 Nixon shock, which severed the dollar's gold peg, enabling unchecked monetary expansion.

They take 'money is the root of evil' out of context. The full quote is 'For the love of money is a root of all evil.' I find that I cannot talk about money with these people. They have such a limited understanding yet are fully qualified to vote their laws upon me based upon that limited understan...

Looking at the corruption of money leads you to start questioning too much about everything you believe. For people far on the left or right, that's pretty much everything. Because that's a painful process, your subconscious makes you stop considering it.

>leftist activist circles There's the problem. They're far more interested in their solution than they are in fixing problems. As I learned trying to bridge ties between Occupy and Tea Party end the fed folks. I'm generally with Richard Poe on Communism being a tool the British invented to contro...

Having grown up let's say "culturally center-Left" I think this is a cultural issue that extends all the way to the center, not just in activist circles. Liberal people in general don't like to talk about (their own) money, it's considered kind of "gauche", like the "so what do you do?" question. T...
