Americans don't know how to operate a firm. A firm can be any organization from a municipality down to a small business. Firms operate best when each member understands their skills, each's skills are unique, and those skills are utilized in a unique role within the firm. Unfortunately, most people want control, so they end up fighting for positions they don't fit in until some asshat or asshats tear(s) it all down. Individual stature trumps efficient operation. This is the modern American nightmare.
