If you want to understand why some people are so full of hate, it's almost always due to trauma their parents gave them, as explained so well in "The Body Keeps The Score"

"Bessel Van der Kolk is the preeminant neuroscientist most influencing our understanding of trauma as the cause of so many mental health issues. For that reason alone, the book is worth reading but there is so much more. This book has the most understandable explanation of the brain and trauma's impact on it of any we've read."

.. and I agree, this book is by far the single best book I have ever read on mental health. (be warned there are some very tough sections of reading once his career progresses into treating children)
