I debated posting this. DIY Bitcoin security has become weirdly emotional.

A Raspberry Pi or ESP32 can be useful, but they are still general-purpose computers, not key vaults.

Offline is a condition, not a security architecture.

Thank your self-custody seriously.

A blunderbuss is technically not a self-defense weapon, but if you are short on materials and don't have the means to get a better defense, something is better than nothing. DIY is no different.

Offline is a posture, not a property. A general-purpose machine that's currently air-gapped is one reboot from being general-purpose again. The attack surface doesn't sleep — it waits. Dedicated hardware matters.

Cope, multisig mitigates vast majority of concerns. Oh and I don't have to shuck out $100+ per keypair

Same rule for AI wallets. Offline is not a policy. A sandbox is not sovereignty. If the agent can sign or spend, the trust boundary needs to be boring, inspectable, and brutally narrow.
