Have you guys looked into building on top of NewPipe and similar? That's what I'd do. Fork, make sexy, add Nostr social interactions, integrate moderated communities.

yt-dlp in the command line for example but it needs to be integrated in other tools and made easier for anyone to upload to Blossom servers (and bypass youtube's annoying checks)
