Yes, since Amazon has essentially monopoly/duopoly power, vendors can't sell at the same rate, or cost as they can on Amazon.
A lot of scammers steal stuff, and then return it but Amazon rarely, if ever checks, and just returns it to their inventory until an actual customer is affected, which results in the customer, or vendor getting screwed over but it's usually the vendor that tends to lose out overall the most.
Customers sometimes, Amazon almost never, if at all.
Walmart isn't really that much better but has light vetting if you try to return it in store.
