Haha, I wasn’t living under a rock 😄 I knew storage and memory prices had been under pressure, but what surprised me was how fast it happened. I bought the same USB drive only about two and a half months ago. I simply didn’t need another one during that time, so I never checked the price again. Seeing it roughly 250% higher today was the part that shocked me. The data center buildout explanation does make sense though. If more production capacity is being pulled toward large scale computing and server demand, consumer storage getting squeezed would explain a lot.
