Consider something capable of mining doggie coin. Bitaxe can't do it as far as I know. Also, even if you pick bitaxe, be aware of how "merged mining" works so that your extra gains don't just go to the mining pool or whatever

Bitaxe as a learning tool, only lottery mining, if you want to spend money, the NerdOctaxe is a beast. You are paying for an open hardware machine to secure the network and you will never recover $$$ :), that tradeoff is ok with me.
