Sometimes when kids display shutting down behavior, the purpose is attention seeking. There’s nothing wrong with wanting more attention, but the inappropriate behavior used to get attention is wrong. Good behavioral management focuses on replacement behaviors and positive reinforcement. In a way, it’s ignoring bad behaviors, but rewarding positive ones🫂
