I'm a Brit linguist. Orwell is one of my favourite authors, reading his novels is interesting, I like his turn of phrase, very much of its time. Some of it's lexicon, too, is interesting and needs some looking up, as the words used, have simply fallen out of favour. One that springs to mind is, wainscotting!
