Durov built his reputation defending privacy and told the Oslo Freedom Forum in June 2026 that exchanging essential liberty for temporary safety was “always a scam,” while Telegram continued to expose users to persistent network tracking through a conscious architectural choice.

Coinkite built its reputation on security, while cryptographic evidence now links its own CTO to the pseudonymous account that maintained the library at the centre of Coldcard’s catastrophic entropy failure.

Together they expose a pattern that is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

Powerful founders and executives build public identities around freedom, privacy and Bitcoin, while the technical systems and incentives of the companies they lead tell a more complicated story.

There are many more examples hiding in plain sight, but the scale of the money and incentives makes exposing them extraordinarily difficult.

What was the explanation for the TGs use f other than the TLS layer? Did somebody look into it? Was it historical artifact from the early days that is not addressed yet, or something else, besides what the text alleges?

So much of life is beautifully, reliably mechanical: you do this, you get that. Cause and effect, clean and true. Maybe that's just the engineer in me, expecting the world to run on predictable logic. It lulls you into trusting the floor. But look closer, and the rest is just an open-air casino ...

Thanks for this. Both are wrong and terrible, but Peter Gray and NVK theft is an order of magnitude worse than Durov. Stealing data is bad but nobody commits suicide as a result. I hope the long arc of justice wins out in both cases.

Keep zooming outwards to see more "patterns you can't ignore" unfortunately you won't be able to publish those on Forbes.

In the case of Durov, he's blackmailed (the French government did so). In the case of NVK, I wonder if he's blackmailed as well.
