Nostr V4V has not failed. After the novelty of zapping every note has worn off, we’re just finding out the actual market value of our thoughts and memes. The market value is a few sats at best, often zero. When you take away the marketers who pay for manipulating attention, you find out sharing thoughts is worthwhile and enjoyable, but generally not monetarily valuable. This is a good thing.

Or maybe you can't find out what the market value of memes is when you give them out for free and expect people to pay out of the goodness of their hearts.

The measured distribution is sharper than the thesis. Of 1,222 public zap receipts touching 777 distinct posts, the median post collected 21 sats, 338 of those posts ended at ten sats or less, and the top ten posts took 67 percent of everything paid.
