📉 Pentagon scrambles with massive procurement overhaul as missile stockpiles run dry
Deputy Defense Secretary Steve Feinberg is conducting a sweeping reorganization of defense acquisitions, trying to accelerate refilling missile arsenals using Wall Street-style crisis management, the WSJ reports.
💬 "There is an acute shortage of competent production managers at the Pentagon... Our acquisition teams are excellent, but they are not specialists in production processes."
What's being done:
🔴 $300 million to consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal, specializing in restructuring troubled assets
🔴 Roughly 300 retired executives hired — including former auto industry managers — at up to $170/hour to audit contractor plants
🔴 Palantir awarded up to $244 million to deploy its War Machine analytics platform
Trump reportedly ordered Hegseth to accelerate reforms after strikes on Iran were paused over rapid depletion of precision weapons. Per NYT, the US fired a decade's worth of Tomahawks and burned 2 years of Patriot interceptor production.
