For the Nostr network to be more resilient, it must be cheaper to run, so the Simplex model should be an option.

I mean relays that only store events for a limited time, like Simplex's SMP servers (21 days in the case of Simplex if the message is not downloaded before then). The client already manages storage locally, but it can also coexist with relays that store events as they do now.

Nostr gives you tremendous flexibility, and having these relays that do not store software notes like Simplex could take advantage of Nostr's infrastructure.

Currently, there are already relays that do not store notes, but I think it should be extended further.

This is an interesting idea for a minimalistic Nostr Relay. This is something I’ll look into, utilizing the C nostr lib I’m working on and designing for the relay to be run on cheap hardware like ESP32-S3 https://github.com/privkeyio/libnostr-c https://github.com/privkeyio/keep-esp32

it's about user expectations. you can't really practically step that far outside of that.
