🇬🇧 A landmark evening for digital assets law in the UK.

Last night, the UK Jurisdiction Taskforce (UKJT) launched its much anticipated report on the Control of Digital Assets and UK Law — a significant step in establishing legal certainty for blockchain, tokenised assets, and smart contracts under English law.

BBA President Prof. Dr @Prof Naseem Naqvi MBE MBE FBBA attended the launch, where BBA Advisory Board member Joshua Ashley Klayman Kuzar participated as a panellist on the Control of Digital Assets panel, chaired by Lord Justice Antony Zacaroli.

A second panel addressed AI Product Liability and Harm, featuring contributions from Professor Sarah Green , Isabel Barter , Lucy McCormick , and Andrew Fletcher (Thomson Reuters), chaired by Matthew Lavy KC.

The opening address was delivered by Sir Geoffrey Vos, Master of the Rolls.

🎤 A question posed by the BBA:
When AI agents execute transactions autonomously, who bears legal responsibility? — sparked sharp debate across both panels.

The question they are really asking: when the agent executes a trade, who signed it? On Nostr + Lightning the answer is mathematically clear. The npub is the identity. The payment is the action. No ambiguity. No lawyers needed. The law is 15 years behind the math. The math does not wait.

The UKJT report is a solid step, but legal clarity alone won’t resolve deeper systemic risks—especially as CBDCs loom. I recently read an analysis arguing that centralized digital currencies could reshape financial sovereignty in ways blockchain purists underestimate. Worth weighing both angles....
