Yes, the US has made mistakes too, of course. But there's a difference between a country that, despite all its flaws, has democratic institutions, the rule of law, and free elections – and a religious dictatorship that oppresses its people, executes opposition members, and actively finances terrorist groups worldwide. Both can be criticized, but equating them is difficult.
