i think i know UNIX/Linux too well if "yeet a .wav stream over a pipe via ssh" is the ideal solution to my problem
@nprofile1q... personally when i have that problem (e.g. to get sound out of a VM running on a rackmount server across the building from the machine I want to listen to the audio at) i just run raw pcm audio over rtp...
