If we all stop reading the news and more importantly reacting to it, the world will be a much much worse place.

It’s possible. But a part of me thinks that the system requires our attention to work, but not our consent. How our attention to the news makes the world better? How our outrage on social media prevents our governments to abuse their power? We can’t quantify this, but most people would agree we as a species aren’t equipped to bear the weight of the entire world. That’s why Jesus had to die on the cross to pay for our sins. I don’t see how reading the news makes us love our fellow humans more, instead of less. Maybe instead of reading the news, we should start reading books. Idk 🤷‍♂️

Here in Indonesia the government has to listen to what the population says whether online or IRL. Their job is to serve the people. However, I understand many countries do not have similar freedoms or such a high level of democracy.
