This one is cool, he respets most of the concepts in all the interviews
I can see Jeff's point, and I agree with much of it... I've always believed that if we want a different future, we have to be willing to step outside the comfort that the current system provides... The problem is that comfort can become a cage... The more comfortable we become, the less willing we are to question the structures that shape our lives... Real change is rarely comfortable... It requires sacrifice, uncertainty, and the willingness to endure difficult periods before things improve... Yet most people are focused on today... on convenience, entertainment, and satisfying immediate desires... As long as the system continues to provide enough comfort, few will choose the discomfort that meaningful change demands...
The only place where I differ from Jeff is that I'm far more pessimistic... Not because I think change is impossible, but because I look at the current state of the human mind... We seem increasingly distracted, dependent on convenience, and unwilling to trade short term comfort for long term freedom... I hope I'm wrong, but sometimes I wonder whether we'll choose comfort right up until the moment it can no longer be sustained...
