Now that big pharma has a weight loss “wonder” drug (ozempic, wegovy etc…) watch the fat acceptance movement virtually disappear overnight.

Obesity will be reclassified as a disease, insurance will pay for semaglutide drugs and our mainstream culture will swing back to fat shaming as the norm.

I bring this to your attention because it’s important that you understand Incentives run the world.

And culture is not a spontaneous or organic phenomenon but a second order effect which resides downstream of monetary incentives.

I find that if you have little to no exposure to mainstream/social media, these cultural trends barely exist in real life. Everyone fit continues being fit. Same for unfit

These oligopolies are as predictable as clockwork. They’ve already got talking heads on the M5M talking up their miracle cures

Big pharma makes billions in profit from treating disease. People dont realize there is no incentive for them to cure anything as profits would soon dry up. They would rather have you paying for medications that cause nasty side effects for the rest of your life rather than live a healthy lifestyle...

Any negative side effects that the drug has? I guess it will have some. I guess no druh will replace healthy balanced nutrition (meat, fish, veggies, fibers) and sufficient physical activity.

You really believe the pharmaceutical companies? You shouldn't. Dig a little deeper and you'll find those drugs make your face ugly, your butt ugly, and the weight loss stops then reverses after a little over a year. The government is happy to be complicit in them selling you drugs that cost you a...

I feel obesity will be treated like type-2 diabetes; almost a “self-induced” based disease. And that weight loss tablets should be used to help prevent secondary conditions such as heart disease/diabetes and should be used along with education and mental support with other weight loss methods su...

Yes. Obesity has always been about addiction and gluttony. There are psychological and physiological reasons for the behavior that are absolutely legitimate, however the base behaviors remain the same. No one seems to want to be accountable for their actions, without accountability there will likely...
