I was just taking with a younger mother about this. You never see kids with broken arms anymore. I broke mine on a trampoline with no nets when I was 7 properly losing to a game of crack the egg.

We would wrap a rope around the entire thing and use a motorbike to pull the rope and get it spinning. There would be sparks coming out the bottom where the bearings worn out and it made this awful grinding noise
