He goes on to outline how AI should be transformational for the people not the billionaires. (it is Bernie what did you think he'd say after that?)
Now as an old guy Bernie *must* quickly establish that he understand AI. And he knows it is scaring and worrying many people. By calling it "transformational" he sides with majority opinion and seems like he's keeping up.
I don't think it's transformational. Not more than say ... teflon.
