Funny. That used to be my definition of the essence of working in IT. creating stuff at such a pace no single developer can understand anymore. Or phrased in other words. The simple art of making things too complex. As a friend of mine once said. People in western countries are making themselves go crazy. I do not believe it is progress. You just trade inconvenience for insanity.
