TODAY WE REMEMBER HAL FINNEY, ONE OF #BITCOIN’S FIRST BELIEVERS 🧡

12 years ago, on August 28, 2014, Hal Finney passed away from ALS.

👉 Bitcoin history is about people who believed before the world understood.

✅ First person to receive a Bitcoin transaction from Satoshi
✅ Cypherpunk and cryptographer
✅ PGP contributor
✅ Creator of Reusable Proofs of Work
✅ Final forum post: “I’m pretty lucky overall.”

Hal helped carry Bitcoin from an idea into reality.

Oh boy do i hate ALS....my really good friend has it....it's really fucked up to see person full of life, who was running marathons, dwindle and loose his power little by little.

Twelve years later and those final words still resonate: grace under mortality. Bitcoin as a living tribute is more than he probably imagined. The chain keeps his proof of work alive.

He didn’t believe. He ran the client. First coins weren’t a plaque. Two machines agreed the money existed. The conference list is marketing. The last line is the work: “I’m pretty lucky overall.”
