monero grows 8 times faster on disk than bitcoin, for the same TPS. monero is also harder to prune and can't support SPV. even your nodeless wallet has to scan every block since the wallet birthday, so it's heavy. on monero you are gambling that consumer grade hardware and internet service improve faster than the rate of adoption. maybe it will. monero adoption is mostly slow and steady. their only fallback plan is even shittier payment channels.

BTC community decided NOT to make that gamble at all, instead focusing entirely on lightning which has been a disaster, and fake sidechains, and a bunch of other stupid centralized things. everything they did was overwhelmingly centralizing. they are allergic to any expressiveness which could enable real sidechains, shielded CSV, or anything else.

with monero, maybe you will drown in excessively large blocks someday and maybe you won't. on bitcoin you are already giving up and shoving everyone into spark. both of these plans are dumb compared to real sidechains, where you can try everything and ignore anything you don't care about.

This is why I say, the only solution to all these problems is not requiring the preservation of all historical state to maintain the security model of Bitcoin. The only thing that does that is MW, and then, only as it was originally written, which as far as I know is not implemented anywhere, all MW...

Most people ignore that BCH + XMR is a better complement. BTC serves one function, that is preserving node running capabilities in case LTC/BCH or XMR P2P use grows too fast for home node runners. Which could be the case especially with hyperinflating prices for storage and CPU.

Look, yeah the blockchain grows faster — that’s just the cost of real privacy. Monero doesn’t do optional, half-broken mixing or transparent ledgers. Every transaction is private by default with the crypto built in. You’re trading some extra disk space and scanning for money that actually wo...

Real-world chain sizes (2026) • Monero full node: ~220–250 GB • Monero pruned node: ~80–100 GB • Bitcoin full node: ~740–760 GB
