At this point I’ve come to the unfortunate conclusion that every brave man who gave his life fighting for America died for nothing.
I dunno .... joining the Union Army to smash those Confederates was a pretty good thing. It was unfortunate that the tactics at the time resulted in so much death.
The only bad thing was that the Southern States were re-admitted to the Union way too quickly. Needed another 100 years or so. Freed blacks needed more time to settle in and establish multiple generations of citizenship, land and gun owning rights, etc.
