Nah just branding, packaging and marketing.
The stuff at lower price points work well, unless you go top end with like pastes that are over engineered for overclocking (which by then it should just be water cooled)
I recently redid my paste and bought two large syringes (50ml each) for like $8
Some random Chinese product that's just nobranded or would have been rebranded and sold at a higher price.
Thermal once a year, depending on load use. Like my home server I do once a year or when I see temp constantly high
