the ability to avoid custodial services/intermediaries was a💡 moment for me back in the day weird that this concept doesn’t seem to click with some folks, but then again not everyone wants to be free

I don't think so, the average tx is still above 5,000 Let the free market be. More people will be moving Sats money on LN, On-Chained will be used when they become wealthy enough.
